Personal Achievement in Sports: Mr Jason Ng Tai Long HARDCASTLE

Jason is an athlete in Triathlon. He is a member of both the Hong Kong Triathlon Team and the HKUST Track & Field Team. He represented Hong Kong at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, where he achieved 5th place in the Elite Men’s category and earned a bronze medal in the Mixed Team Relay. Jason is currently an Elite Athlete in the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
Team Achievement in Sports: HKUST Karate Team

The HKUST Karate team achieved 3rd runner-up among 12 universities in the Men's overall category at the USFHK Karatedo Competition. They also brought home three bronze medals in Men's Individual Kata, Men's Team Kata, and Men's Kumite, respectively. The team ranked 5th place overall.
Outstanding Sports Group: Korfball Club, HKUSTSU

The Korfball Club organized a number of workshops for different target groups. In addition to organizing the experience sports workshops for HKUST freshmen, they also provided voluntary tutorial service for secondary students to experience a sports workshop at HKUST as well as conducting sports tutorial sessions for primary school students in order to promote korfball to the local communities.

We are pleased to announce the results of the Alumni Endowment Fund Athletic Awards 2022-23.
Personal Achievement in Sports: Miss CHOW Hiu Yau (School of Engineering, Year 3)
Hiu Yau is an athlete in Figure Skating. She represented Hong Kong to participate in International Figure Skating Competitions such as ISU Challenger Series and Asian Open Figure Skating. She also joined a few Open Figure Skating Competitions overseas. She is currently a Part-time Elite Athlete in the Hong Kong Sports Institute.

Team Achievement in Sports: No award is given in this category this year.
Outstanding Sports Group: Rowing Club, HKUSTSU
The Rowing Club represented HKUST in the Joint-Universities Rowing Committee to prepare and organize the 2022 Jackie Chan Challenge Cup. They engaged themselves actively in organizing the Experience Sports Workshops and HKUST Water Sports Carnival which could further promote rowing to the HKUST community.

We are pleased to announce the result of the Alumni Endowment Fund Athletic Awards 2021-22.
Personal Achievement in Sports: Mr Jason Ng Tai Long HARDCASTLE

He represented Hong Kong at several International Triathlon championships such as Asian Sprint Triathlon Championships and Asian U23 Triathlon Championships. He also receives comprehensive training and support from the Hong Kong Sports Institute under the Elite Vote Support Scheme.

Team Achievement in Sports: HKUST Men’s and Women’s Squash Teams
The HKUST Women’s Squash Team and HKUST Men’s Squash Team ranked 1st runner up and 3rd runner up in the USFHK Squash Competition 2021-2022 respectively. The USFHK Squash Competition is the recognized and highest level of intervarsity squash competition among local Universities. This is also the third time that HKUST Squash team won the trophies in both Men’s and Women’s divisions in the USFHK Squash Competition.

Outstanding Sports Group: Dance Society HKUSTSU
The Dance Society produced three dance exercise demonstration videos for HKUST community during the pandemic and they conducted several experience dance workshops to promote dancing on campus. The Club also performed in various University official events.

Personal Achievement in Sports: No award is given in this category this year
Team Achievement in Sports: HKUST Men’s and Women’s Squash Teams
Amid the constraint of social distancing regulation and precautionary measures of COVID-19, HKUST Sports Teams resumed training and prepared for the intervarsity competitions in Nov 2020. The USFHK Squash Competition is the recognized and highest level of intervarsity squash competition among local Universities. The HKUST Men’s Squash Team achieved the 3rd runner up and Women’s Squash Team won the 2nd runner up in the USFHK Squash Competition 2020-2021. This is also the second time that HKUST Squash won the trophies in both Men’s and Women’s divisions in the USFHK Squash Competition.


Outstanding Sports Group: HKUSTSU Fencing Club
The HKUSTSU Fencing Club promoted fencing on campus by organizing Orientation Day via Zoom despite the COVID-19 pandemic situation last year. Participants gained the opportunity to learn basic techniques and skills of fencing under the guidance of senior club members through online mode. The Club has also done a brilliant job to promote fencing by using social media channels as well as engage fellow students in well-organized fencing experience activities .

Miss LEUNG is an athlete in Bowling. She was the member of Hong Kong Bowling Team. She represented Hong Kong in World Bowling Championships and Asian Bowling Federation Tour (2nd Runner-up in Women’s Singles), and several international competitions in Hong Kong and Macau.

We are pleased to announce the results of the Alumni Endowment Fund Athletic Awards 2018/19.
Personal Achievement in Sports – Miss MAK Ho Yi, Lydia, Year 2, Physics (Football)
Miss MAK is a member of the Hong Kong Women’s Football Team. She represented Hong Kong to join the Asian Games, Asian Qualifiers of Olympic Football Tournament and EAFF E-1 Football Championship. She is also the captain of the HKUST Women’s Football Team. Lydia contributed to bring home the 2nd runner-up at the USFHK Women’s Football Competition. She also helped promoting Women’s Football by organizing the HKUST Women’s Futsal Tournament.
Team Achievement in Sports – Men’s Water Polo Team & Rowing Team
The Men’s Water Polo Team participated in a number of local/open and intervarsity competitions and had significant achievement in these team events. They got the 2nd runner-up at the USFHK Water Polo Championships.
The Rowing Team had achieved extraordinary results in team competitions. The team is always ranked at the top three in most of the intervarsity and open competitions such as Champion in Men’s 8+ and Men’s 4- at Jackie CHAN Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2018.
Outstanding Sports Group – Rope Skipping Club, HKUSTSU & Students’ Football Club, HKUSTSU
The Rope Skipping Club is recognized for their contributions in promoting sports in the university. They have co-organized the experience sports workshops and welcome fair to HKUST students.
The Students’ Football Club has organized training camps, Women’s Futsal Tournament as well as the Intramural Football Competition for the campus. It attracted more than 500 students joining the Intramural Sports Competition and more than 50 girls participated in the Women’s Futsal Tournament.

We are pleased to announce the result of the Alumni Endowment Fund Athletic Awards 2017-18.
Personal Achievement in Sports – Miss WONG Man Yi Rachel, Year 3, Biological Science (Gymnastics) & Miss SO Ying Zoe, Year 2, Operations Management (Rope Skipping)
Miss WONG is the member of the Hong Kong Acrobatic Gymnastics Talent Team. She represented Hong Kong in at the Level 6 Mixed Pair event of the 2017 Chinese National Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships and brought home the Gold medal. She was also the winners of a number of local competitions.
Miss SO is Hong Kong Rope Skipping Team member. She represented Hong Kong in the Asian Rope Skipping Championships and won the 1st runner-up in Double Dutch Speed Relay.
Team Achievement in Sports – Men’s Water Polo Team & Rowing Team
The Men’s Water Polo Team participated in various open and intervarsity competitions and had good achievements. In particular, they got the 3rd runner-up in the 2017/18 Panasonic USFHK Water Polo Championships.
The Rowing Team had achieved significant results in team competitions. The team is always ranked at the top three in most of the intervarsity and open competitions such as 1st runner-up in Men’s 8+ and 2nd runner-up in Men’s 4X at Jackie CHAN Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2017.
